I am a 52 year old mother of 3 and grandmother of 8. I have been fishing my whole life, primarily bait casting the salt or brackish waters of Southeast Florida. 2 years ago I began my journey to heal my soul after a long-term toxic relationship and fly fishing has done just that. Not only was learning to fly fish one of the healthiest things I could have done it's has opened doors to friendships and destinations I would have never expected. About 6 years ago I was introduced to hunting on private property. I successfully harvest my first doe with a rifle and I was hooked! My long term goal became to bow hunt and this past year I was finally successful at harvesting a bow doe. Also this year I was blessed to harvest a rifle cow elk through an all women's organized hunt with an outfitter. That trip tested everything I knew about myself and the Wyoming Wilderness weather at 6,500. My goal is to live my best life and encourage anyone I can along the way to just try something new, especially if you are interested. I am hopeful my 13 year old granddaughter will be bow hunting with me this year as she asked for a bow for Christmas and is actively taking lessons. As a 50 something single female do not think you can't, you absolutely can with all the social media forums out there anything is possible. Women are taking fishing and hunting by storm and many men are also eager to engage us and share with us, don't be intimidated, ask questions!
