Why do you spend time outdoors?

I love to show women and people who may be intimidated to get into the outdoors that it is for EVERYONE who wants to do it! I am one of two female captains in the northern Gulf of Mexico running offshore charters and anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

When was your first fishing memory, and how old were you?

Fishing the Rhode Island sound with my family when I was 10.

What do you love most about spending time outdoors?

I love the freedom of being outside and the non discriminatory lifestyle of the outdoors. It’s the great equalizer!

What’s your most memorable fishing experience?

We fought a swordfish for 5.5 hours that we hooked at 4 PM after a full day of tuna fishing. Boated a 300lb boat best at 9:30 PM and returned to the docks when everyone was gone around 11 PM!

Do you have a favorite wild game or fish recipe?

I don't have any favorite recipes; but I love snapper ceviche, seared wahoo and axis back straps most!

Do you have a dream hunting excursion?

My two dream hunts are mountain lion; and archery elk somewhere out west!

What would you say to other women who haven’t tried spending time outdoors yet?

Don’t let anyone intimidate you! We all started as beginners from all over. The outdoors is for EVERYONE. Finding a mentor is very beneficial… but just put yourself out there! There are plenty of groups for women too on social media to help!
